Thanks to @pcstewart.bsky.social, I went looking for this source wherein firing on shipwrecked survivors is literally the United States' DoD textbook example of a clearly illegal order at pp. 1088-89

Ah, juggling "major musical influence's death" and "frustration at the hate-drenched vileness of the brainworms that she absorbed in her later years."

As a friend elsewhere said, I hope that never happens to me, but if it does I hope people around me care enough to confiscate the keyboard.

I'd be willing to bet there isn't a city on this country where the "Regina-related" notes wouldn't still apply in every detail.
It's budget time so at the end of our interview w/ Mayor Bachynski, we gave him a printed poster of the image below. It's the density vs services vs taxes venn diagram that @brenttoderian.bsky.social often shares around. It includes Regina-related explanatory notes. #yqrcc

I know the roughly-monthly capitulation plans being thrown at Ukraine by the US are always going to be ridiculous, but the latest one including a ban on foreign *diplomats* visiting Ukraine seems especially insane.

Youtube just tried to give me a reaction video about a trailer for a release date announcement and maybe, just maybe, the Internet was a mistake.

I just encountered the phrase "terrorist group chat forum on a dark web site known as Discord" in a news article and I think that strange burning smell is the four or five IQ points it cost me.

If you're heard historians and others talking about the authoritarian playbook or the patterns of authoritarianism but don't necessarily know the long arc behind these sometimes vague and ominous allusions, here's a good primer:

Thanks, conservatives! Cleeking yourself into adopting "vaccination, public health and germ theory are all bad, actually" as fundamental policy positions sure is paying dividends!

As far as evil rackets go, "$495 (minimum!) fee for fake doctors to issue fake vaccine exemptions" is pretty up there.

Can't wait to see Poilievre spend all day tomorrow claiming the latest Trump tantrum, against an ad Ford commissioned, is Carney's fault and, also, somehow, Trudeau's.

Sigh.

Kinda marveling at how much of the US' national media today is either pretending nothing significant is going on, or is fully leaning into panicky make-stuff-up mode.
