It’s a brilliant film. And all the issues of the 60s were played out really well, particularly the choice between absolute personal freedom, and commitment to others, which was exemplified by the choices that Leonardo DiCaprio made to raise his daughter, and lovers choice to remain personally free

And given the full political spectrum of parliaments from communism through Green Party, all the way to fascism, they’ve done a much better job of serving their populations with strong unions, free higher education, clean safe mass transit, better education and less homelessness.

The addiction to money is ubiquitous, and we have failed to protect our political system from its corrosive power. But the parliamentary systems of our western European allies and Scandinavian allies do a much better job. Most of government funding of elections. Most refused corporate donations.

Yes, it is, and who, in our Congress has ever stood up and fought for full federal funding of elections, or universal voting, or mandatory voting, which would weaken the power of big money. Who has put forward legislation that would set standards for the behavior of Supreme Court justices.

You can blame John Roberts for a whole lot of stuff starting with Shelby V holder where he let the southern states off the hook and allow them to change voting laws without getting clearance from the government.

Clinton deregulation allowing multiple ownerships that condensed media corporations from around 50 to 3, insuring one, national corporate voice. EVERY SINGLE COMPROMISE WE MAKE IS WITH MONEY. It never compromises with us. The supreme court has INSURED that this remain the case. We need better law.

That is where we need to be. we need to consider fighting for a Parliament—a much more democratic form. Full funding for elections. Banniing corporate donations (since their mandate is only to look after their shareholders.) Time to color outside the lines. We need to think farther afield.
