Over the summer I was able to attend the unveiling of his statue at Climate Pledge Arena. I didn't get to talk to him that day, but I am so happy I went.
As another former coworker texted me earlier, we were all blessed to have been in his orbit.

We worked together until the Sonics left town. For years after, if I bumped into him he would greet me warmly.
We worked some college hoops together, including one memorable moment where we almost perished together on a snowy Palouse highway.

He taught me so much about the game of basketball - me being a guy who watched NBA my whole life but apparently had no real understanding of what I was watching.

Somehow I had the great fortune of getting to sit next to Coach every night and watch hoops with him. He had no reason to be nice to me, but he treated me like an old friend. He shared stories with me about his life as a player and coach.
