The difference this time is it's about appeasing the US government rather than our own right wing. Starmer is behaving like Chamberlain. History will not judge him kindly and nor should it.

Alienate some imaginary cohort of voters who would otherwise vote reform. For that I will not forgive the current leadership and hope Labour get wiped out in the upcoming local elections so we can get someone who dares to lead this country in a compassionate way.

I think Labour's strategy throughout was to let things play out, especially on the legal front, so this is just a result of what we have known for a while now. That said it is good news. That said I expected a more vocal, values based position and commentary from Labour but they don't want to

Exactly this. A commission which does not have the trust of the people it is ostensibly meant to protect is not fit for purpose.
