If there was strategy here, that Schumer asked 10 to sacrifice themselves, then they are not doing a very good job explaining why. They either think that you need angry masses for elections while fulfilling narrow agendas(yuck), or think ending the shutdown was genuinely good, in which case explain!

Look people are hurting, and maybe the principled senators feel they know better for the people. Bit don’t be surprised that your attempts to avoid breaking things in short run results in even bigger things breaking in the future.

Also speaks to elite and mass disconnect in this moment. If the Dem party had its way, some of the candidates who won on Tuesday would not have run. Democratic party is acting like its on the back foot in a context where dominant party hold all the cards. Its base clearly is not acting that way.
