Parents, please check your kids’ candy this Halloween. I’ve just found an ancient metal whistle with the inscription “QUIS EST ISTE QUI VENIT" inside a Snickers bar. I blew it and heard a note of infinite distance, and now I’m haunted by a figure in pale, fluttering draperies. Be safe.

We love the Conjuring films. Mainly for one reason, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. I think they have unbelievable chemistry on screen and getting increasingly rare in blockbuster movies, you really care about them. And we will be very sad when the series finishes later this year.

It’s that magical time of the year. I wait till everyone’s gone to bed, make a cup of hot mulled wine and watch a film by the light of the Xmas tree. (And fall asleep within minutes and wake up as the end credits roll). Magical.
