I was surprised, and somewhat disappointed, not to see a Soc Dem the last time around.

Joking aside, I'd really love the return of the old timetable. Up to a few years ago I had a 10 minute window to catch my connecting train to Waterford. No more. Now I have to wait in Heuston for 2 and three quarter hours for the connection. More or less a 9hr trip to get home to Tramore. Bah humbug

As the next election approaches there'll be just enough done to keep the local party faithfuls voting loyally.

💯 the amount of marriages that have broken down as a direct result of this is quite significant. There have been reports of other more significant consequences too, but there's no real evidence so I won't mention it.
But you are correct, the psychological consequences are as equally deleterious.

I suppose a trolley service would be spoiling us too much?😁

I'm living in Ballina, hence my knowledge of the process. But irrespective of the location, be it Donegal to Clare or anywhere in between, the process is still a disaster.

The redress scheme that's in place is slow, unnecessarily complicated and basically unfit for purpose. Advertised by government as a 100% redress scheme, it requires financial imput from homeowners to finish it. Absolutely criminal that we have to pay for government negligence again.

That's because there's a massive double standard beyond Dublin. Within the capital's boundaries building flaws were 100% remediated (granted, after much protest.) Here though, not a sniff. There's a couple of TDs that do raise it repeatedly, but to little response beyond platitudes.

Speaking as someone who's starter home, was bought 22 years ago and is now falling to pieces with pyrite, I truly dread for the future of houses given the lack of regulatory enforcement there already is in the country.
We bought houses in good faith and paid a heavy price. This will happen again.
