This is by far the most common vaccine I strongly recommend in ID adult clinical practice. As ID doctors, we see some truly severe cases of zoster, with post-zoster sequelae that may last months or even rarely be permanent. #IDSky doi.org/10.1093/cid/...

44 years ago today. Still amazed it did not get "front page" news in MMWR in deference to two cases of dengue in US travelers to the Caribbean. But amazingly prescient reporting by CDC, incredibly what they got correct in the full text. #IDSky www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview...

If anyone is looking for a true "start" of the effective ART era for HIV, I'd vote for Jan 1996 CROI, when 24 wk data from this study were presented for the first time. Indinavir joined ritonavir (🤮) and saquinavir (😑) with full FDA approval in March.
So amazing. www.natap.org/1998/drug/03...

Dear Predatory Publishers,
Gentle advice, at least if you're in the health field: Try to choose your fake names with a bit more care.
With great affection for all the unintentional humor you've given me over the years,
Paul

Just when you think AI is making progress ... how's this for a "hallucination"? 🤣
(Actual CROI 2026 will be in Denver, February 22-25.)

The University of Washington's National HIV Curriculum, headed by Dr. David Spach, is one of the best on-line resources for HIV information anywhere.

I refer people to it *all the time*.

Really hoping valuable resources like this are up and running again soon. #IDSky

So many people either have had norovirus recently, or have asked me about it, that I summarized some key points.

Though it's incredibly common, in many ways it's amazing it isn't even *more* common.

More on this misery inducing virus here. #IDSKy blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-obser...

Recently saw one, flying high over the Riverway, believe it or not. That was a first.

It was magnificent.

Am I the only one feeling incredible sadness about receiving this message about Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute setting "separation timelines" and a "clear end date" for ending our affiliation?

I doubt it

Any time I can team up with @drlaurajwaters.bsky.social for an HIV program is a bonus for me! She covered highlights from the 2024 HIV Glasgow conference, and I took a look back on the top HIV studies of the year.

I translate it in my head to something that sounds more like plain English, thanks to the great teaching of Michael Hughes:

"We tested whether X was *not too much worse* than Y. We found it was too much worse" = not non-inferior www.hsph.harvard.edu/profile/mich...

Such great writing on tennis and life, from Andrea Petkovic, who doesn't seem to be on this app.

Agree with all of these, highlighted sentence in particular.
