Interaction design & service design in gov. Lover of all tech things for good. Ex Citizens Advice, Home Office, MoJ. Currently at DBT.
UI design has really gotten lazy. Content often now is centre aligned on webpages. Saw this first in the abundance of Wordpress templatery when media queries began as a convenient approach to mobile design.

But it's now become the norm. So oddly off, look at the "Our aim" content below

Noticing a huge increase in websites and companies employing surveys and user research in the past couple of years. A good sign. Theory: the low interest rate mania of hockey stick user expansion is over were in an era of retention and value for the user

Found these beautifully crafted "badges" down the back of my Fitbit app and now I'm thinking how many hours were spent crafting them but for what benefit. Do lots of adults honestly collect gamification badges in health apps?

Feels like a waste of a designers time, nice portfolio piece though.

Trying to pay fine (PCN) for entering a yellow box. Got this screen click pay, greeted with "The PCN listed are not payable". I'd missed the extremely small checkbox of one PCN to pay in a table design.

This is how my GP asks me to digital describe my ailment. How can this be accessible and usable, especially for those with cognitive or eye sight issues. GP web tech has a long long way to go. My local practice was touted this website as awarding winning skandi design.

Keep it simple.

Transport for London's account for paying transport charges asks me for an ID number to login. I can't find it for love nor money. Why does it have to be this way in 2025 #govdesign

Useful AI. Sent queries to this customer service WhatsApp and didn't get the typical canned response merry-go-round. Aha, accurate useful answers too. You've saved me a phonecall.

The merry-go-round of visual web design trends. Bubbley rounded buttons are back in. Are bubbley buttons the flares of web design. In fashion, out of fashion, then back in, then out, then in. Bubble buttons are now in - but it's been nearly 2/3 years now... is the trend over?

This is such helpful hidden button to get rid of notification overload.
