It’s my birthday today. I’m 57 and I’ve had 57 messages of good wishes. Deeply appreciate them but it’s quite spooky and sets a precedent.

About time for something new. Keen to see what happens with this.

So much recently being in my 50’s hits me in many ways (still being 25 in my head) but none more than cultural frames of reference. I’m in a theatre foyer waiting to see the Waterboys who were such a big part of my teen years. We’re all quite old.

Reflecting on my day yesterday I heard two things I wasn’t expecting. “I’m writing a story about a dog with the face of an owl” and “I’ve had enough of sticking things up my bum” Unrelated conversations obviously. I liked yesterday.
