I recently took the Doğu Express - Turkey’s greatest train, from Ankara to Kars near the Armenian border. One of the world’s great journeys and I cannot wait to edit the video of this special trip!

My first time on one of LNR's new Class 730/2 trains! These are pleasant units with a "secret" never-classified first class area complete with better seating and window blinds.

Train 1 of 4 today to get me home to Northamptonshire. First up, a natty ICE4 of Deutsche Bahn. These interiors are cheap, plasticky and uncomfortable- and not befitting a train making 3+ hour trips. I'm on today as far as Köln where I will change for something nicer!

Pleased to see - again - a fully utilised restaurant car on SBB! This is not cheap, but I've had a long day and with a late arrival into Basel this evening I need some dinner.

A real treat this sunny afternoon: Prestige Class on MOB's Goldenpass Express! This will do nicely for the trip down to Montreux. We also change gauge on the move...never done that before!

These stunning BLS RABe 528 trains took me from Brig to Spiez through the Bernese Alps. Beautiful route, and the trains are superb. There is even a vending machine bistro and dining area on these small electric units! 👌 🇨🇭🏔

In Switzerland this week. Taking a couple of beautiful trains today...this is just the setup (and boy do the Swiss do railways well - perfectly silent loco hauled carriages even on regional services). 🇨🇭🏔

Great to ride Turkey’s high speed train - the YHT. This Velaro train was a joy to ride…once it got up to speed (it takes nearly an hour to leave Istanbul??).
Istanbul to Ankara in under 5 hours still beats flying. Solo occupancy of this club compartment with light meal included? About £100. 🤩

Great to ride Turkey’s high speed train - the YHT. This Velaro train was a joy to ride…once it got up to speed (it takes nearly an hour to leave Istanbul??).

Great to take a Boeing 737-700 of Romanian national airline TAROM - these aircraft still have their original “proper” business class seats and are some of the only aircraft left in Europe with this configuration! Also, props to them doing ore departure sparkling wine on short hops to Istanbul! ✈️

Awesome day to take a vintage train! The London Transport Museum ran a special today with their classic 1938 Stock train out to Heathrow and back, on the Piccadilly Line. My dad learned to drive on these trains and it was great to get another ride on this classic traction 😍 ☀️
