Ex-Keswick Cumbrian exile, lost in literature, environment, ecociticism, weird fiction, capitalocene, fiddle, traditional and non-traditional music (often at the same time), and lots of walking & cycling isms and ings
This book had perhaps the biggest effect any book ever has had on me. After reading it I began driving everywhere at no more than 60mph. I defy anyone to read it and to not do the same. If the environmental argument doesn't get you, though why it wouldn't is beyond me, the economics surely will.

How do people get to be this unpleasant? This level of nastiness must require some effort. Why would anyone bother?

I sometimes wonder if I did the right thing deleting my X account and then something like this happens.

The headlines of the future have arrived in the present. Why didn't we act? I think we know the answer and we also know the people who are responsible are either going or will soon be gone.

Clever! It's a bit like the savings I've made by not getting the brakes fixed on my car.

Bay Cycle Way. Took two fairly difficult (for me and son aged 14) days. Barrow to Grange is pretty tough with panniers I'd say.

Blatten in Switzerland gives another early indication of the horrors to come as glaciers not only melt but also collapse.

One from today's news. A social media influencer's set-up from a wildcamp in the Lake District. With the almost prehistoric vibe it all seems rather anachronistic. Is there something primitive about farming for likes?

Nice day up Bidean and etc. Last time I was in the lost valley I was ten, it was raining heavily and I was angry with my dad for making me walk there

It's time for global politicians to stop treating Trump like a bona fide political actor and to denounce him as a dimwitted gangster

I can't imagine what it must feel like to be living in the States at the moment. I fear this isn't going to end with an election.
