We need a single constitution, a single executive with foreign policy prerogatives (that’s focused on rebuilding our global power - not migration or racist nonsense), a common fiscal policy, and shared defense structures

We need politicians with the courage to establish a new European State, with unified single markets for everything from pharmeuticals to finance, and even labor (which requires a standardized pan-EU lingua franca)

Thanks - will do

And also Sander, final point (I’ll be writing a longer macro piece in the near future), but the weak job market is probably the real reason behind persistently weak consumption. And the way out of that isnt by increasing labor costs - it’s even more macro stimulus!

(Although, thats not to say there havent been some consumption programs this year. There has been a significant shift in this regard. But the party prefers incremental change over rapid transformation, and comparef to local govt fixed asset investment of recent years, welfare spending is still tiny)

It’s mostly driven by the idea that technological leapfrogging and manufacturing investment will provide more long term benefits (economic and security wise) than welfare spending could. Which is probably true for a historically fragmented and divided country like China

The party leadership really isn’t that concerned with boosting consumption. They’re laser-focused on technological innovation and domination, aka geopolitics. That’s why they’ve announced multiple packages to channel more household savings into capital markets this year, but v little on welfare

Now divide it by % share in global manufacturing

You need to look at per capita when comparing China with any other county (except India)

Starmer was talking about stuff like “rekindling the fire” of government to deliver better affordability for working people. And I dont think there’s been more than a few measures anyone can point to that actually sought to achieve that
