If anyone goes to the National Library Poet Laureate event tonight and want to send me a few sentences for a post-function feature please do! Would so love to be there but am soaking the Waitākere bush bliss - people would pay to see our extraordinary native birds sing and dance!

I'm halfway through featuring the 10 books on the Ockham Poetry longlist - each daily feature a mix of audio, poem texts & tiny review. I'm absolutely loving it, & rate each highly. All so different. All so satisfying. Who could possibly choose a winner? A toast to the ten poets!

this unspeakable crime against humanity
as i drink my coffee with coconut milk
and bake another batch of scones
on my tongue the sour taste of the world

Welcome summer!

Rain washed away flowers but a surprise strawberry greets me.

The sky's patchwork blue, I'm reviewing sublime poetry, assembling blog posts, baking bread, maybe poems.

Tūī are still nectar feeding and singing.

Let's make this self nourishment week!
