One thing that I haven't liked about Bluesky is that it is like Twitter/X. That format for art sharing, etc. Didn't work for me. I preferred IG. So this is Bluesky going IG. Interesting...

It's not that they're not bothered. They are sending this out to a plethora of people (phishing) to see who bites. Never respond to an email that doesn't use your name.

Charlene, I share with folks a rule I have. If I receive an email about doing illustration work, but the email doesn't USE MY NAME (This one doesn't; it has only a salutation), it's a safe bet they're phishing & it's a scam. That rule alone will an illustrator out of trouble.

That's EXACTLY what I did with the lady last week! It took me 5 minutes to find info for her. In this case, she had an 11 y/o son who wrote a book & they wanted to hire me to illustrate it. Same too that it was a friend of someone who did something for me. And I wanted to encourage the kid. But man!

There's no need to bother a creative anymore, given all the info that is out there. Heck, if they have some money, they can hire a coach who will guide them. Or take one of the many courses out there. Sorry for your bad experience. Everybody else asking pays for it because of their rude behaviour.
