I am the Orange County bureau chief for City News Service. Loyola-Chicago alum, Dad of twins, fan of Cubs, Vikings, Blackhawks, Bulls and Ramblers with a passion for art, music, reading and writing.
Yeah, well, it helps when you get good players back. How many players are still with the Cubs after they backed up the truck in 2021? That’s a rhetorical question.

That TD pass he caught was really something.

They need to start a super group and go on tour with Body Count.

Just want to say “Day of the Dead” is vastly underrated. It’s the first example, I think, of a filmmaker expressing that neither science nor the military will save us. That’s a brilliant postmodern deconstruction of the genre.

This is a perfect take on Nico. Well done.

Oh Sweet Nuthin’ is one of my favorite songs. It’s such a great album.

Would he prefer the term “registered sex offender?”

This film will remain as relevant forever it seems — like Orwell’s 1984 — even though we wish otherwise! Avarice, arrogance, and dishonesty will always be in vogue for the powerful.

It’s like a Jerry Lewis sketch. 😂
November 14, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I’m a Cubs fan so we lost out on him too.

Absolutely! Must have both. And it also goes without saying you must spend a lot to have the good farm infrastructure. So, yeah, they bought a championship like most winning teams do, but not entirely with all-star free agents.
November 12, 2025 at 4:17 PM
He’s right. If you don’t have the farm system to feed it then buying all the best free agents doesn’t usually work. The coaching and leadership matter too. Just ask the Mets about that approach.

Looking forward to the AI mashup of all the Bonds soon.

I think any team would be nuts to fire a coach and then let the GM who hired him to pick another one. Especially the GM who picked Jones over Barkley and then got nothing for firing Jones, who has revived his career.

When did touchdown or goal celebrations become so performative? 🤣
November 10, 2025 at 8:38 PM
I hope it’s universal that when I’m called into the light that Jessica Lange will be there to welcome me 😂

I always like to think of him as Bob Fosse in “All that Jazz.” What inspired casting. “It’s showtime!”

I wouldn’t take advice on couponing from most politicians either! 🤣
November 5, 2025 at 8:01 PM
It certainly was when I did in the early 1980s! Most everyone else was majoring in business!

Great points. Forgot about all of that. I haven’t flown in awhile and forgot what a hassle it can be to get in and out of some airports.

I’m sure his brother can get him a gig on his news channel.

A nonstop high-speed rail trip would take about 90 minutes longer than a flight but when you factor checking in and getting through security it could take longer to fly probably.

Just imagine the lunch scene…

Like Les Lancaster in 1989. Didn’t they bang the drum loud enough for Springer to hear?

The Tech Bros are the Big Tobacco of this era. It’s a simple easy message that resonates with many.
