So: Russia flatly rejected one Trump envoy (Kellogg), made the next one (Witkoff) wait for eight hours, rejected the ceasefire, and instructed Trump that his job is to give Russia what it wants. That’s what Trump means by "respect" I guess.

He says n’importe quoi. The US almost blocked Marshall aid because the Europeans kept bickering and refusing to agree on anything. The US needed a solid block against the communist threat at the time and therefore wanted European unity more than the Europeans themselves.
