For some reason I am reminded today of this book and how the Nazi commander in Paris found ways to avoid following criminal orders to destroy the beautiful city. American democracy is even more beautiful and precious. One can hope her destruction can also be avoided when the unlawful orders come.

As Christians start Holy Week, I just want to take a moment to reflect on how quick so-called "Christian" Republicans would be to label a modern-day Jesus as a gang member and terrorist and ship him off to El Salvador while chanting for the release of Barabbas.
