So much this! So much even, that I was considering publishing a book with nothing but beginnings of books. A book full of promise of great stories, but none of them finished.
I decided it would be too depressing.

Breaking international law, but who's going to hold him accountable? No one. Let's face it, no one inside, nor anyone outside the US, is going to really hold him accountable. Because that would entail violence - since no other option will suffice.

That's why Americans shouldn't put too much trust in their rule of law. To Miller & Co that doesn't mean anything. Besides, they've got the Supreme Court in their pocket, so when push comes to shove, they'll push every dispute all the way up there.

Proving once again that Europe cannot count on the US anymore.
Let's stick to our (European) guns, and prepare to fight for our freedom and way of life.

I agree! I know Hitler and his gang actually looked to the US for examples and (monetary) help. Think of Lindbergh and Ford. He admired the racist achievements (Jim Crow, KKK). In many ways, Amerikkka has always been a frontrunner when it comes to extreme rightwing fascist tendencies.

If you ever wondered why the Germans let Hitler take control, even though Germany used to be a democracy, and plenty of people saw where things were going... now you have your answer.

The real - and really difficult - problem is: what can anyone do? How do you oppose a dictatorship without going full in? Meaning, with violence. If you don't, the dictatorship will always trump (no pun intended) your move - they have a monopoly on violence, the step that overrides every other step.

Seriously, when you read this, you must understand that there is no way to still have an adult conversation with these people. That time has passed. No factual arguments will persuade Trumpists, they are completely over in cuckoo land. Which must be pretty scary for most Americans right now.

Any moment now, they will stop showing up for these kinds of meetings. After all, who's gonna make 'em?

All this travesty is telling me is, Americans will let their country slip further and further into dictatorship, all the while thinking they will do something to counter that any moment now. Waiting for the right moment. Still waiting... Darn, now there's another Auschwitz! Who would've thought?
