Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

I know this has been said to death, but if you want people to have more kids, you need to give them social services and support. Paid leave for both parents for at least three months. Screening for postpartum depression. Visiting nurses or doulas for aftercare. 1/2

If your Rep or Senator isn't capable of doing Van Hollen-style stuff — for cowardice reasons, or because they're infirm, or they're belatedly sucking up to a dying Trump movement, or really any other reason — you should primary them. It's gonna take a lot more stuff like this. All hands on deck.
