What an honour that our President chose to spend his last May Day in office with trade unions.

"Your movement is the greatest hope for economy, ecology, and justice.

"Your campaign for trade union week needs to show everyone that there is dignity in work, and hope in the collective."

Today Smoke-Free Workplaces have come of age in Ireland as it's 21 years since their introduction by law.

The privilege of my life to be part of the campaign that brought this ground-breaking public health measure into effect.

Turns out that a man who entirely baselessly and bizarrely calls a British minister a rape genocide enabler and tweets random conspiracy theories day and night might neither be the most stalwart nor reliable political ally.

Despite all of the challenges - legal and meteorological - we did it!

After 40 years of damaging deregulation, Greater Manchester has this morning successfully retaken control of the whole its bus network. 🙌🏻

June 2024!

Of all the photos taken in the RDS this is my favourite. The 4 women who made it happen - two campaign managers, Labour’s General Secretary and the Labour Party leader.

Remember government leaders over the weekend saying they support disability workers & others like them?

Today at talks on pay equality, government reps said they had NO MANDATE to address the issue.

Micheál Martin TD & @simonharrisireland.bsky.social - give them the mandate them. Immediately.
Over the weekend, a lot of people were angry at how a disability support worker was treated by Simon Harris. He apologised.

But in reality, workers like her are still fighting for equal pay.
And they are still not being treated fairly by the government.

Here's the backstory:
Fine Gael leader Simon Harris has said that he should have taken the time to engage with a woman who raised issues in relation to disabilities with him in Co Cork last night

Proud to be attending the @irishcongress @LeCheileDND Rally for Unity and Hope

As @SIPTU General Secretary, Joe Cunningham, said on Friday next we have an opportunity to send a clear message to those trying to sow division and hatred
