I remember occupying the street to play hockey with my nextdoor cousins and I can't stop thinking of the influence of urban planning on family structures. Imagine if cities were designed for resilience by decreasing the amount of childcare planning and maximizing safe spontaneous child interactions.

This week, I saw a play about self-immolation as a form of protest. The play echoed an event in 1972, when a poet and ecologist named Huguette Gaulin, 28, walked in the Montreal Old Port and shouted "YOU HAVE DESTROYED ALL BEAUTY IN THIS WORLD" before turning into ashes. Did the world change?
