- you clean up that banksy?
- sure did, your honour, leaving a perfect, permanent outline, imbuing the work with real fuckin gravitas while making its point better than the artist did himself just like you asked
They erased the new Banksy mural in London. But the stain remains.

“Let’s begin by saying that we are living through a very dangerous time.” So opens “A Talk to Teachers,” which James Baldwin delivered to a group of educators in October, 1963.
James Baldwin’s Lesson for Teachers in a Time of Turmoil
Rigorous lessons are not mutually exclusive from culturally and politically relevant ones.

I’m always looking for things that explain a lot but that people have a hard time remembering.

Examples: Air is stuff. Pee comes from blood. All land vertebrates have a single common ancestor. Venus is bright enough to cast visible shadows. Clouds are heavy. Bones are alive.

Any others you know?

Put the dead into your poems without garbing them in your grief. Give them cake, put on their favorite music. Listen to their gossip. Let them tell you how they've learned to bake bread. To carve clarinet reeds. Let them comb your hair. Help them remember the color orange. The scratch of wool.

one of two new poems in @ex-puritan.bsky.social today among so many, many friends!

"...she says a poem
where nothing impossible happens in it, just the truth,
and I say OK and put her in this poem and she sprouts
forty two robin wings down her neck and back and legs..."
