First day of tching - what do you do? I pulled a snake out of a pillowcase (kind of inquiry lesson) and almost got fired. The principal said”if I fired you, how would you ever learn to tch?” And, I gained a mentor for life. #firstday 4/4

If students forget what we teach, it may be a sign that we need to build stronger connections to help them hold on to it. 🪢

Memory isn’t built by covering content once—it comes through retrieving, connecting, using, and revisiting over and over, until it sticks. 🔄

After teaching a concept, challenge students to use it in a mini-task: sketch a quick cartoon 🧑🎨, draft a fake text message or tweet 📱, or explain the concept to a younger student 💬.

Ask them to create, connect, or solve using the skill—the goal is not to summarize the concept but use it.
