Mental Health First Aid flyer reading in part: Join us for our upcoming community course Nov. 6&7 Would you like to build skills to support our community? We are hosting a Mental Health First Aid class to help make mental wellbeing a reality for everyone. We aim to increase the number of Mental Health First Aiders certified to respond after natural disasters like we experienced in July with Tropical Storm Chantal. The class will be two mornings in early November, Thursday and Friday the 6th and 7 from 9am - 1pm at the Carrboro branch library in the Drakeford Complex. Attendance at both sessions is required for certification. The class is free aside from a $18.95 book fee (can be waived if needed). Questions: allsd@hotmail.com

With the aim of encouraging greater civic engagement, Mark Chilton, former Chapel Hill Town Council member and former Carrboro mayor, will discuss the elements of a Town Council meeting - from proclamations to public comments and public hearings to what to do if your local government isn't discussing your issue - - while showing a livestream of a past council meeting. Designed to be educational and non-partisan, as well as interactive, lively, and hyper-local. Chilton is the register of deeds for Orange County Government. There will be activities for kids and a snack potluck, so bring your favorite snack to share (optional).

Greetings from RTP, where I came to a technical meeting of the TWTPO to advocate for funding for pedestrian improvements on NC HWY 54 in CH & Carrboro. It’s the BL-0044 line you can barely read in the slide. This committee did vote to recommend the funding. Yay!
