Meeting fellow TTRPG enthusiasts in the bar, bringing up your character sheets on your phones and sliding them towards each other like the business card scene in American Psycho.
An experience I've had twice this week so far.

A While ago there was an article about hot guy books, books that you can read in public to look hot.
I asked for books that would make me less attractive, 'Goblin Boy' books, if you will.
Many thanks to the person who recommended Brian McNaughten's Throne of Bones, absolutely nailed the brief.

I've been reading in public all my life purely for the pleasure of reading and long before The Independent existed... they can fuck off with this kind of pearl-clutching, mocking, attempt to make me feel bad about it.

Oh shit, there's a new series of Inkmaster.
Does that mean that @beneaththeskinpod.history.tattoo will torture @mattlodder.com by making him watch all of it?
Inquiring and sadistic minds want to know.

Turns out it was a benign cyst.
Appropriate, as if it had been something deadly, 'benign cis' is how I would have liked to be remembered.

Being in a new relationship and going to the doctor to get all those things you've been ignoring looked at because maybe life isn't fucking awful all the time.

Made a lentil shepherd's pie in the slow cooker. Shop only had red lentils, thought that would be fine. Forgot in a slow cooker they take on the texture of mashed potatoes.
Have a feeling that this 'shepherd's pie' is going to feel like eating mash layered over slightly different-tasting mash.

Our image of the plague doctor is likely more based on carnival masks than on the original masks.
I imagine that turning up in one at a carnival in 1700s Italy was the clichéd 'edgy' costume of its day, basically the old timey version of the guy who turns up at your house party as Jimmy Saville.

30. Hellbender (2021)
Stop sleeping on the Adams family (no, not that one). The Deeper You Dig is also great.
31. Murder Party (2007)
It's Halloween, watch something fun.

I know a lot of places do the 31 movies in 31 days, but I decided to make a homegrown one. Especially since they're all fairly similar in the end. If someone has a better one I'll pivot.
Plus it works like a pile of good recs.

Oh I forgot to finish this before Halloween. Last 3:
27: Van Helsing.
Is it good? No. Does it have lots of fun shit in it, including a really cool werewolf transformation? Hell yes.
29. The Borderlands.
Great film all round, but the final twist is fucking impeccable.
