Look, I'm no fan of Trump, but sometimes you just gotta post through it, y'know? Sometimes you just need to post 100 times in a day to the fake twitter app you made because you got kicked off the real one. It's called self-care.

One of the wildest bites of information in Bubbagate so far is that the email in question was released by *Republicans*, in a tranche of 20k emails, to distract from the other incriminating emails that Democrats released. Truly insane times.

I'm increasingly certain aliens don't exist, because if they did and the US government knew about them, Trump would have gleefully mentioned it to the press by now.
Chat, is it good when a sitting president a) authorizes covert action against a non-aggressive regional neighbour, and also b) vocally and in real time confirms said ongoing covert operations to the press?

Like… is that "good" tradecraft, orrrr…?

Trump confirms he authorized CIA action in Venezuela
Trump's comments were an extraordinary acknowledgement from a president, and they step up the administration's pressure campaign against Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.

I'm so used to seeing the US destroy other countries to bolster itself, I'm not sure how to react to a US president destroying his own country while reducing conflict in others.

Nelson Alexander requiring tenants to use an AI chatbot to report urgent repairs. Reportedly this chatbot cannot differentiate between urgent and non-urgent repairs. Incredible.

Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny to headline 2026 Super Bowl halftime show
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny to headline 2026 Super Bowl halftime show
Latin trap and reggaeton artist to lead NFL halftime celebration on 8 February, following Kendrick Lamar’s record-breaking 2025 show Bad Bunny will headline the NFL’s biggest stage next year: the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show in Northern California. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday that the Grammy-winning artist will lead the halftime festivities from Levi’s Stadium on 8 February in Santa Clara, California. The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection comes amid another career-defining run: He’s fresh off a historic Puerto Rico residency this month that drew more than half a million fans and is leading all nominees at the Latin Grammys in November. He has become one of the world’s most streamed artists with albums such as Un Verano Sin Ti, an all-Spanish-language LP. Bad Bunny will host Saturday Night Live on 4 October. “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.” The announcement comes just weeks after Bad Bunny said he excluded the US from his forthcoming world tour due to fears that, as a prominent Latino musician, his fans would be subjected to immigration raids. Hearing a reporter read out on NPR, in their most NPR voice, “*notices bulge* OwO” and having no idea what they’re saying has done actual psychological damage to me.

What’s it like being unburdened with knowledge of niche internet subcultures? It seems nice.

I just remembered I saw a post yesterday about how a Russian numbers station had reactivated, and today a trained marksman kills Kirk and disappears like a ghost.

This is how conspiracy theories start, isn’t it?

Price's comments are directly resulting in racist hate being spewed at innocent Australians. The Nationals should be severing ties with her entirely, but instead they're rallying around her.

I’ve been mostly offline since Friday and I might honestly stay that way a bit longer. Between rampant Australian racism and American fascism, it seems like I’m better off just checking the news periodically instead of doomscrolling.

I’m at a burger place in Perth that is just playing a bunch of Muse classics in a row and, honestly, excellent vibes

I mean, part of that is probably the absolute joke that is recycling plastic - not just in Australia but globally. The way it's practised, it might be *better* for the environment to bury it rather than recycle it.

Of course we're better off avoiding plastic use in the first place...

I can't tell if this guy - a mayor! - is hopelessly corrupt or just genuinely too dumb to realise he's been pitched a lemon.

There is no universe in which electricity from H2 is cheaper than from overhead wiring. We can't even make long-distance H2 trains economical, let alone light rail.

Also I picked up a wide-angle pancake lens for my little MFT camera and it's super fun. I've been focused on the telephoto shots and not looking enough at the wide perspectives.

...no there's no metaphor in that, hush

My experience talking to widowers is that this extends to men in their 50s and 60s too, except their inability to take care of themselves was masked by having a wife who looked after them until they didn't.
boomer opinion i have is that there are way more young adults out there who legit don’t know how to take care of themselves in very basic ways than we’d probably be comfortable with knowing

It's a minor thing, but I passed an Arbitrary Super Milestone recently and it's nice to just see things accumulate over the long term. I've had a lot of financial ups and downs and definitely behind in some respects, but I'm incredibly fortunate to have a healthy super balance for this age.

In the context of some of the news in the last few weeks in Melbourne alone, let alone globally, I'm not sure I'd personally categorise this behaviour as sickening. Tiring, at worst.

Hot take nobody asked for: people are giving too much credit to Mamdani’s policies, and not enough to him being a charismatic, positive guy who genuinely loves the place and people he represents, rather than a scowling old billionaire.

Oh man, I just watched this a couple of days ago. My take: if this was released as a Syfy movie today, it would be an absolute monster hit. Its only crime was trying to be a tentpole superhero film when it's a campy, deeply unserious, made-for-streaming-before-streaming laugh.
Say something nice about this movie
