Biologist, arid lands fan, MAGA despiser, airplane nut.
No knowledge, just that several commands are there. Seems weighted for airlift.

Any military button experts here? Found this brass uniform button in my yard, back is raised letter "United States" in a stamped channel. One guide says that stamp type dates 1930-1850. House is old adobe in Rio Grande Valley, NM.

This one looks and sounds pretty intense, moving NNE toward me. Likely arriving in a few minutes. Rumbling thunder, dark purple-gray clouds.

I can see this storm cell to the SW of my place, moving NNE. Most on that path miss my side of the valley.

Reached by the driving the aptly named "Burma Road" labeled on USGS maps. Not a drive for the faint of heart. P.S. avoid driving in late winter afternoon due to sun angle and position-can't see the road in some bends.

Recently visited this area, pretty remote. Going back in a few weeks in pursuit of large cervids, some of which I saw on this trip.

Dawn patrol aiming for the usually productive scrub type my Plant Community Prof. dubed Interior Chapparal. Major component is Mountain mahogany (Cerocarpus spp.) a deer food favorite. Noticed many on these slopes had died-drought victims.

Yesterday went to Bear Trap Canyon on a rainy day to see how things were. Road has taken a beating from heavy rains in past days. Fall is beginnning, oak leaves are falling and Aspen leaves are turning yellow. Lots of wildflowers with the rains, few mushrooms (too cool?) @coconinoite.bsky.social
