Today we thank Speaker Nancy Pelosi — a brilliant, strategic leader with a heart as big as Mount Rushmore. She gave her heart to this country and to everyone she served. Thank you for your leadership, your care and your incredible legacy.

Trump’s move to block food aid and prevent grocery stores from helping struggling families shows his disregard for everyday Americans and hungry children — yet another example of this Administration’s deep moral failure. Are we surprised? ⬇️

Thomas Edsall’s recent column in @nytimes.com capsulizes what is happening in our country and highlights a core tactic of the Trump Administration: othering, or the demonization of out-groups to gain power. I break it down in the video below. Read Edsall’s column: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/07/o...

A century ago, America faced eerily familiar threats: Crackdowns on dissenting speech, public distrust, political violence, wealth inequality & more. But Americans didn’t retreat; they experimented boldly. To meet today’s threats, we need bold action at an even greater scale. tinyurl.com/m5y6b23n

Everyday Americans aren’t imagining the economic hardship they feel. New Census data shows inflation counteracted income gains for most families.

Women & Black households are falling even further behind:
— Women now earn just 80.9% of what a man makes
— Black household income fell 3.3% in 1 year

For good reason, the Big Betrayal Bill isn't supported by the majority of Americans. Historic cuts to Medicaid & SNAP will leave millions without basic necessities. And now, many of those who stand to gain the most from the bill oppose it. ⬇️ www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Innovating for the Public Good's new report, Barriers to Benefits: The Decline in Public Trust, now features an appendix with additional resources on administrative burden & public trust in government.

When basic support becomes an uphill battle, families suffer — & so does trust in democracy.

Our democracy relies on public trust and people’s belief in their power to shape policy. After the LA fires, 2.6M tons of toxic ash were dumped in landfills. Families tried but failed to protect their communities — and even the wealthiest couldn’t stop it.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social nails it: Trump’s shakedown of Intel isn’t an aberration — it’s the product of decades of right-wing infrastructure building. Innovating for the Public Good shows how this long-term strategy, from Goldwater to Project 2025, put power over democracy.
