When treasury bonds rise, money gets harder to borrow.

When money gets harder to borrow, the economy slows down.

When the economy slows down, we get recession.

...

The fact that the Trump administration is bragging that Trump's economic policy has TWICE caused bond Armageddon is...

on-brand.

What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Summer of '95 I had a job assembling single-use film cameras, which I did enough that I can still perform the actions. I don't think they even sell them anymore, but even if they do I'm certainly never going to be making them again!

In the summer of ‘88, I had a job where I installed cell phones into cars. No one has needed that skill in over 30 years.

BTW... on a completely unrelated note, you should buy some Trump cryptocurrency."

Trump has fallen back to the refrain of "Immigrants are the reason why we have crime!" that he used to be elected in 2016.

During his first term, Trump's administration funded a study about crimes committed by immigrants.

'We've detained him until he can prove there isn't a warrant for his arrest.'

-- That's not how the law works in the US.

Every one of the "Law Enforcement" officers needs to be fired.

Somehow, that seems quite on-brand for this administration.

First:
States cannot & do not issue visas.

Second:
This is a Trump-appointed director of the largest law-enforcement budget in the history of the United States blatantly lying about something she SHOULD know in order to make Trump look less foolish for making the same claim previously.

Soooo.... about ICE arresting and detaining American citizens without even a sniff of probable cause.

This preoccupation with nostalgia is beyond foolish.

Nobody wants a 2-ton station wagon that gets 7mpg and is almost guaranteed to kill you in any crash over 25mph.

Just like nobody wants to build new coal power plants.

STOP MYTHOLOGIZING THE PAST!

Not everything was better "back in the day".
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

Does it bother anyone else when people incompletely quote "The customer is always right"?

The full saying is:
"The customer is always right in matters of taste"

It does NOT mean:
"The customer is never wrong about anything"
...
That's perhaps the most misused wisdom saying outside "The Art of War"
Does it bother anyone else when people refer to the legislative branch of the US Government as "The Senate" and "Congress", when in reality "Congress" is comprised of upper and lower bodies known as "The Senate" and "The House"?

Fun fact:

During Trump's first run, several groups ran polls that asked the question:

"When was America Great?"

The overwhelming choice was the 1950's.

The overwhelming reason was "economic prosperity"

...

Do you notice a pattern in the tax rate on the wealthiest in the 1950's?
