Agreed that risks are needed to progress. But so much evidence that we're not up to the ask. I feel a bit like we're trying to fence, while teams like Bournemouth, Newcastle and Palace are armed with a mace ready to smash our f**king heads in.

On the money front - I worry we've banked too much on success now. And that may bite soon. Targeted overhaul needed, but I miss the pragmatism of Unai's first season. And his tactical aims this season seem out of kilter with what's working elsewhere in prem. A bit like Pep in that regard.

Not one to kneejerk, buy Emery (a) has had a howler here, selection wise (b) his ranting demeanour is likely transmitting to the players who are doing stupid stuff to make amends (c) needs to reconsider playing out from back. We invite so much pressure and likes of Palace feast off it. Piss poor.

Surely we lead on most goals conceded within first 10 mins too ... I'd be shocked if otherwise. Cannot manage gamestate at all for love nor money.

No, agreed: Pau's passing's sublime; also true if he had Ty's defensive skills he aint at Villa. FWIW, do think Mings passing can be overlooked - e.g. long pass to Ings 4 equalizer against Wolves in early Emery phase. Also felt Ty was key in early building frm back getting ball to pivot.. No Pau tho

I love Pau, he's unique & instigated brilliant moments. But feel we rely too often on him to build up & teams know this blocking passing lanes & congesting LHS. Felt more balanced last nite with Ty sitting, marshalling, resetting with short passes. Seemed to help bring RHS in a bit. Conundrum indeed

I hate that sense of inevitability about us at the moment. Last season we would lose but pull it back next game. Been such a long time since this team have had to deal with a slump. Worries me that they don't look like they'll arrest it anytime soon ...
