Just realized I never introduced myself here. Hello! I’m Kate, a Louisiana based block printer. I have been an independent artist for about 7 years, before that I was a scientist. I love exploring the intersection of folklore and the natural world . . . especially swampy wildlife.
Putting aside the environmental impact issues and theft, art is about the process.
The mistakes you make and little things that you do over and over again are what develops into your own unique style.
That is what generative AI is lacking. There is no process, just an amalgamation of results.

Not exactly feeling festive about the upcoming year, but why not share some snake art anyway?
This is Cotton Mouth from 2019. I need to print more of these.

Just a reminder for anyone that might need it: focusing on something creative may feel trivial and pointless in the midst of all this doom and panic, but it’s not. Taking a moment for yourself is not acceptance or weakness, it’s fortification.

Pretty please do not say you are a printmaker if the only prints you are making are digital copies of other work. If you want to sell prints of your work go for it, but you are a painter/illustrator/whatever artist that offers prints.
If you are a printmaker, the original art IS the print.
