You can have an official canon that's just it, obviously.
You can have an original canon and then later takes on that everyone agrees are not the same thing (eg Sherlock Holmes) and you can evenhave so many versions that none can be official (eg King Arthur, Robin Hood).

Incidentally I do kinda feel like the Old Catholics are the last ones to really get to go "we are the rightful continuation from before we split" in that they split over Papal infallibility becoming doctrine and... you can't really have accepted that and /then/ say /you've/ not changed by splitting

I'd have a hard time saying the leadership change has been getting more in line with Starmer, if anything I'd say he and Drakeford probably had the strongest relationship of any UK/Wales leadership pair in the last decade
