2/ Structural tables will change to accommodate this. Growing timber faster will always trigger this. This has happened here in New Zealand over the last 30 years. It's false economy.

1/ Growth rates increase, yes. However, if the timber is going to be used in any sort of structural capacity, you are going to find that strength and durability will become an issue. You will eventually find that larger crossection timber will need to be used to carry the same load ...
