This Veterans Day I’m thinking about the so far 76 people murdered in Trump’s completely illegal boat bombing campaign, carried out by our military. A military I was told all my life taught its members that it was their duty to disobey illegal orders.

Alderman Sigcho-Lopez was right to call out Pritzker today about the state police arresting protesters. Pritzker responded that the state police are protecting protesters, and that just isn't true. State cops have arrested and brutalized protesters to facilitate ICE operations. That's reality.

I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

I'm sorry, I know this is not your problem, but I just felt like screaming into a void seeing that now Dems may cave and end the shutdown without getting anything they were supposedly fighting for. We've been put through hell for weeks, constantly having our ability to simply feed ourselves dangled in front of our faces, our survival used as a bargaining chip, told it was for a reason. Our suffering would prevent even more suffering and that it would be temporary and worth it to save healthcare for millions. And now it's all for nothing. They stood for nothing. They caused suffering for no reason. They'll cause even more suffering for no reason.

It wasn't 40 million people starving that made them cave. They were willing to put up with that. But the threat of holiday traveling being disrupted seems to be the thing to push them to give in. They have failed everyone. I'm so angry.

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Why would Count Rugen let Inigo Montoya keep the masterwork sword he had just refused to pay full price for, though? He gave him the cheek scars as a permanent reminder of his failure, why not take the sword he’d ordered? It’s not like Rugen was a man of honor.
