Best book I’ve read in decades… I don’t actually know when I’ve read something this exciting & moving & brilliantly comprehensive & utterly mind altering. As for the prose—it’s overwhelmingly beautiful & haunting. Thank you @wwnorton.bsky.social @wwnortonuk.bsky.social @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social 🙏

It’s shaping up to be a banner 2025 for sci-fi writers. Aliens want to Jersey Shore first contact. Chat-GBT is already lying and acting to self-preserve. Quantum computing semi-proves the multiverse. Mars missions back on the docket. Humanity will keep pushing the envelope, I have no doubt.

Found out United Healthcare was double billing me for my son's college healthcare when he was already on my UHC healthcare. The school said many parents were double paying. Today on phone, I got a waiver. In record time. Hmmm. Capitalism is great for many things, but health care is not one of them.

Anti-book ban legislation has been proposed in Michigan.

I had a chance to look at the proposals from the state library association months ago and they're GOOD.

Michigan may join several other states in being an anti-book ban leader soon.

Years ago someone told a friend I'd never sell a novel; they said that two days before I got my first novel contract. Just today I saw someone saying that I'm not that good of a writer, which, okay, but I'm contracted for 16 more books, so I guess I'll keep at it.

So, yeah: Fuck 'em. Do your thing.
Every single one of your favorite artists started out as a wannabe. They all worshiped other artists; were all told it would never happen for them. They all had an inner voice telling them they weren't good enough.

But they had the stones to tell all those voices to go screw and made art anyway.

So glad I’m not in a corporate job right now. A friend has been given an absolutely stupid rush project Friday afternoon and everyone is afraid to tell the SVP in charge it’s a really really bad idea. I don’t miss these fire drills. It’s so dumb I almost want to dish on the details but can’t :).
