I have only just noticed that in Rogue One, if you zoom in on the this shot that is captioned "Jedha, Imperial Occupied Moon" (that I found on the internets), you can see the Star Destroyer hovering over the city. I knew you could see the city, but never spotted the Star Destroyer. Cool detail! 🤩

But if you zoom in more, you can see the Star Destroyer hovering over the city, that is seen later in the film when Jyn and Cassian arrive.

More research. Manga adaptation of Guardians of the Whills, the book by Greg Rucka about Baze and Chirrut's adventures. Also Dawn of Rebellion, a brilliant source for FFG Star Wars covering the Rogue One / Rebels era.

Birthday film choice by me was The Wrath of Khan, as my mother in law bought me a boxed set of the films. It's fitting as it's Kirk's birthday in the film, as are the themes about accepting mortality and aging. A lot of the plot would work in an age of sail setting. And that score by James Horner. 😍

Putting together a one-shot from my Rogue One / Jedha Partisans campaign, which might make an appearance at MORPCon and/or Grogmeet in January. Time to make the map of Jedha into more than a sketch...

With Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein released, it's time to post this again... 😂
The last page of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The last paragraph reads "He sprang from the cabin window as he said this, upon the ice raft which lay close to the vessel. He was soon borne away by the waves and lost in darkness and distance." Following this is a handwritten addendum... As he drifted away I could just make out his final words. "It's okay if you just call me 'Frankenstein' instead of Frankenstein's Monster. I really don't mind." The end

Wanda the one-eyed Pirate Cat is well into developing her Winter Floof. Which inevitably gets matted because she's rubbish at maintaining it and hates being brushed. Which then leads to the Great Spring Haircut which she also hates but loves the results of later. 😀

Guillermo del Toro on wealth is spot on, and it reminds me of one of my favourite things written regarding wealth, by Kurt Vonnegut, which he wrote as a tribute to his friend, Joseph Heller (author of Catch-22):
True story, Word of Honor: Joseph Heller, an important and funny writer now dead, and I were at a party given by a billionaire on Shelter Island. My Unknown Plesiosaurs t-shirt by @mooseallain.bsky.social is starting to show its age. It combines many of my favourite things. Dinosaurs, music, astronomy... And it looks flipping cool. ☺️
A t-shirt design which is a play on the Joy Division cover art for Unknown Pleasures, which had an image of radio waves from pulsar CP 1919 (the first discovered radio pulsar) from The Cambridge Encyclopaedia of Astronomy. Instead of Unknown Pleasures it is labelled Unknown Plesiosaurs, and a plesiosaur dinosaur swims at the bottom of the design.

"Loan Shark"
A four panel comic strip by It's Meg Comics. Titled 'Loan Shark'. Panel 1: On the Orca in the film Jaws. Brody says to Quint "You're gonna need a bigger boat." Panel 2: The shark emerges from the sea, and using fins like hands it cups its fins to its mouth and shouts "HONESTLY, NOW IS NOT A GOOD TIME." Panel 3: The shark is now leaning on the back of the boat, like in the scene in the film where it eats Quint. It is saying "Interest rates are higher than ever, and used boats are still in high demand. Supply issues, you know." Panel 4: We see the shark's point of view - Brody and Quint frowning while the shark says "I'd recommend trying to refinance, if anything."
