The new 2025 Poverty Report Card from Food Banks Canada is out, and the results for our province are shameful. Ontario has received a grade of D- for its failure to address the deepening poverty crisis.

When the government refused to act on his findings and suppressed his report, he published it himself, at great personal and professional cost. Reconciliation is not just for one day, it's a commitment that must be woven into the fabric of our daily work.

A powerful moment was visiting the grave of Dr Peter Bryce (1893 - 1932). His official report documented the horrific and preventable death rates of children in residential schools, particularly from tuberculosis, due to unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.

A powerful moment was visiting the grave of Dr Peter Bryce (1893 - 1932). His official report documented the horrific and preventable death rates of children in residential schools, particularly from tuberculosis, due to unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.
We also participated in a moving guided tour at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, leady by the youth from the Assembly of Seven Generations. We walked the grounds to learn more about Ottawa's residential school history.

Yesterday, our team at the Ottawa Mission joined Canadians across the country in wearing orange to honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never came home.

Right now, the city is asking for YOUR feedback on a proposed by-law to stop these bad-faith evictions. This is an opportunity to advocate for real, meaningful protections that keep our neighbours housed. The time to end renovictions is now.

Yesterday, we proudly launched a new vertical farm initiative with RBC and Growcer! 🌱
Thanks to RBC’s generous $1.5 million donation to the Ottawa Community Foundation, we now have two local vertical farms capable of producing up to 20,000 pounds of fresh greens annually for our meal programs. 🥗🌟
