This is "unicorn stone," a mixture of pink tourmaline, cleavelandite (the white), lepidolite (purple mica), and smoky quartz. This one's really nice -- a lot of the available specimens are grainy purple/gray with pink blobs, but the components here are distinct, with esp nice tourmaline crystals.

Belated xmas present for a friend, finished yesterday and now blocking. It's. . . about 30% wider and 20% longer than the pattern said it would be, but the recipient is tall, so hopefully it'll work out. #knitting

Today's cool rock is malachite. I showed this to someone recently and he didn't believe it was a real rock. But it is! Malachite forms in stalagmites/tites, and the bullseye patterns are from the layers that make up those structures. This piece also has some chrysocolla, the light blue, on it.

Four different specimens of lepidolite, a form of mica that includes lithium and is hard enough to be polished: light colored ring from AliExpress, dark tumble purchased on Etsy, light colored raw and dark tumbled egg, both from Rising Goddess in Tonawanda NY.

Just finished #knitting the back half of Jennie Atkinson's lovely Butterfly pattern. The colors will look a lot better over a black slip than they do on my floor!
