The Fox Sparrow is still around, feeding and defending his table. I am thankful for all these little creatures that live around here to bring joy and entertainment, and that I am able to share them with the world. Thank you also for being here, enjoying them with me. A happy Thanksgiving day to

Just like last fall I am trying my luck with the tree again. So far, I have not seen any Flying Squirrels yet, but others are visiting, at night as well as during the day. And I think there is a baby Red Squirrel here 😍 An adult can be seen at the end.

Some visitors at the tree are very opinionated 😆 (I lowered the volume of the Blue Jay but he's still a screemer.) Loved the Donwy Woodpecker lady, even though I have no idea what she complained about. #birds

It's been mentioned elsewhere but this winter we may have an irruption year for some species. Just like the Red-breasted Nuthatches, I also do not see Pine Siskins every year. But yesterday, a flock came over to the bird bath. Now I am silently hoping

A fun new visitor today - this handsome bird is a Fox Sparrow. He spent a lot of time feeding on the ground, and I also saw him in person - he was not shy at all! And a lot bigger than I anticipated, about the size of a Cardi but chunkier. I hope he sticks around for a bit. 🐦🪶 #birds

This is one of the young Cardis from this summer. You can tell by his not yet red beak and the plumage with still some of the brownish baby feathers. I love this guy, he is not shy around feeders and baths. This scene tonight was so pretty with the sun and the fall colors. 🐦

I decided to check on the Swallowtail caterpillar and made a timelapse yesterday to see how it is doing. The movements are faint and this is sped up, obviously, but the little love is alive and well, it seems, dreaming of spring...

Some people who feed the birds have a love-hate relationship with squirrels. They like the same food, and when they can access a feeder, they will. The good thing is, baffles do work to keep them out and the budget balanced. How can you be mad at these guys 💓 The last one cracked me up so much 😆

I tried my luck with a timelapse video of the aurora last night too. There were less clouds but you can still only see a glimpse. Photo below.

Good morning. Work has been a bit crazy this week so I haven't found a lot of time to go through footage but here is something to calm the nerves. The MoDos love to hang out by the heated bath, and sometimes do it for extended periods. Like those snow monkeys in the hot springs in Japan 😆 #birds

The snow was so nice, there's room for another clip 🙂 This is was #CaughtonBirdfy. I mounted one of the cams close to the ground to see if it worked outside the feeder, and it was quite nice today. Last two were my favorite snapshots it took. 🐦🪶

Feisty feathered friends on a frosty morning, fighting for flecks of fancy feed. It will melt soon, but I am loving the #snow! 🐦🪶

Juncos are not just cute to watch, they are also very entertaining to listen to. They are very territorial, and if someone of lower rank comes too close to their food, they start a trill match. I've seen it on the tree cam last year but today it happened on the ground. #birds

And so it begins… It is not sticking but it's snowing ❄️! I personally love winter, so I am hoping for at least a little bit of snow every year. Be safe on the roads and stay warm, and go, Lions! 🐦🪶

Leucy the Junco was back, and she showed a bit more of herself. I think this bird has the coolest markings!
