up was completely invisible in a geranium that as no taller than six inches. It's not just about blending in, it's that they just tuck themselves up under the tiniest of leaves like they don't answer to the laws of physics. Anyway, we gently rehomed it. Snakes are ecosystem important.

in the yard when a chicken alerted me to something. She was just staring at a rather good sized rattlesnake that was largely gone into a small clump of wild geranium. Darndest thing about snakes is they are improbably good at hiding. This one was maybe three feet long and fat, and all coiled 3/a few

As soon as I put my foot down near it (better near it than on it), I realized it was not poop, but a little coiled rattlesnake. Neither of us wanted anything to do with the other, so I carried on and it stayed coiled and silent, but was gone on my return trip. Later in the week, was working 2/a few
