I found this little person in my shoe #toad #CheckYourShoe
Small very polite looking toad, all greens and browns with that wild black and yellow lined eye, sits with its little forelegs tucked in on a very large white hand. Handsome toad with tremendous composure, covered in bumps and the soft sheen of mucous, sits thoughtfully on a white hand, a contrast to its dark green and brown coloring.

Things I saw, three: where I grew up, garter snakes were black with red or yellow stripes, but here in the Columbia Basin, they are green and purple and tan iridescent, just stupidly beautiful. This little guy was both looking snazzy, and I think feeling fine. Look at that feisty face. #snake

It's a slim, long snake, with a cute face and bright eyes, and the ground is sandy, near the creek, with stalks of dead golden grass.

Things I saw, two: street art in Milwaukie, Oregon. My partner asked why anyone would draw something like that, and I then was filled with existential dread, because given an implement and a hatch cover, I have no idea what i would draw, but it would not be half so compelling as this dog. #StreetArt

Things I saw, one: this massive spider consuming a bee sort of insect thing. The bee thing is about an inch and a half long. There was a second spider on this web. #spider #BeeThing

Behind it is the lightship Columbia, which is really really cool, and sits docked behind the museum and you can tour it, and you should because a lightship, can you imagine. Large spare, as in kind of scrawny, anchor that sits in the grass by the highway 30 in Clatskanie. It's right next to Hump's, which is out of business, sadly.

Snakey week. At the beginning of the week I was on an early morning run down this small section of narrow, low visibility path (I'd usually avoid this sort of stuff in snake season, but I have to get from a to b) and saw what I thought was a pile of banure. 1/a few #snakes #trailrunning

Decent sized rattlesnake coiled up at the bottom of a white bucket. It was mad, but also a bit sedate from being a tiny bit chilled. Snake was unharmed (because snakes are good).

Forested hills are in the background. The mural itself covers the whole wall and has a turquoise background representing water. Very large spawning salmon swim over the little pebbles that will provide the perfect place for them to dump some eggs. They fish are characteristically red. Parked in front of them is a white refrigerator truck, in such a position that it covers one fish all but the tail, so it looks like the truck has a tail and is swimming to it's death like its fellow salmon.

This is art. And a show. Came out the back of the shop to find a yelly bird (killdeer) yelling, & thought, as a laugh, better look out for her nest (it's funny cuz I can never find them) & then right there in my path were these beauts. She did this with her butt. Birds are amazing. #birds #eggs 1/2

Was pretty excited about a local paint exchange, was hoping to get a few free nifty colors, ended up with swamp soup color, but it's better than nothing, plus I got to turn in one little can of mystery paint I had and didn't want. Who knows, maybe my next piece will be of swamp soup. #art #painting

Large rusted circular disc of metal from a farm implement, originally with four holes near the center, two are missing where a square sized piece has been plasma torched out, so it looks like a round happy face with little eyes and a great big mouth. It lies on the gravel amidst other pieces of scattered metal.

Went to the thrift store looking for a globe, found a lighthouse instead. Gave it some attention and two new lighthouse keepers. #thrifting #lighthouse #skeletons #art #reuse
All glossy black wooden lighthouse model pierces the blue sky and its wispy clouds. At its foot is one skeleton keeper made of wire, arms crossed and on the other side of a tiny door from him is a wire anchor. Above both another skeleton keep of wire hangs out a window, holding his chin up in boredom. The days are long. Another view of the lighthouse model, again, all glossy black, with two made wire skeleton keepers hanging out doing lighthouse work. Lighthouse sits on a large piece of basalt, behind it a dry creek bed and some greenery and the blue sky Lighthouse model as I bought it, more stained than painted, very dusty, and without a keeper. It sits on my dining table along with lots of other art clutter and thrifting treasure.

Too smokey outside to garden so I arted instead. Made two little keepers for my new dark lighthouse. I am gigantic, so doing small work is sometimes a trial, but this was fun. Used found wire for the base and an old spool of fine wire for finish #art #darkart #skeleton #lighthouse #WireSculpture
Look at all the cat hairs on this purple chair cover, then look at this tiny copper wire sculpture of a skeleton with his little arms crossed. Base wire of a second copper wire skeleton set out on a piece of paper ripped from a notebook. This guy has one arm crossed and the other holding up his chin. Second view of finished wire skeleton holding his head up with his hand, still set out on that ripped out sheet of notebook paper. Fine copper wire now messily covers the wire base.
