Is there an actual defect in the law, or have they just not correctly enforced it yet?

From my read, what apple's doing is not legal.

ipad mini, maybe. This thing's only about 6" wide.

You can do that with NFC on iphones now?
Cool.

That increasing size dominoes meme, but the small one is Kamiya getting sidetracked making a resident evil game for the ps2.

Huge upside to this is the upcoming "steam machine" graphics preset games are going to start including, like the "steamdeck" preset now.

Boon to any PC with the same or slightly better performance.

I still remember how excited I got when Intel decided to give up on doing directx themselves for their arc cards and use DXVK instead.

The graph of software cost to software quality is not what you might expect.

Accessible PCI-express! 👀

The steamdeck released before US tariffs changed on a monthly basis.

Despite being in Europe, I think we're still going to get shafted by that.

Got my fingers crossed somebody does a shim for the quest's VR apis.
November 12, 2025 at 8:05 PM
I've never managed that with the quest 2 controllers anyway. The battery being in your palm probably helps physics-wise.

Hopefully they'll keep working if the battery disconnects for a split second.
Valve does have a history of underestimating controller use by beat saber players though.

Might be funny to do some of those non-gaming benchmarks like linpack, or geekbench in desktop mode first.
November 12, 2025 at 7:47 PM
The cube is the "Steam machine", the Frame is the ARM-powered VR headset.

Supposedly 40 hours from a AA. With how long the quest controllers run off of one, I believe it.

Should be pretty cheap, since they're commodity.
November 12, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Doubt it. They'll be out as soon as the dimensions of that frontplate are published somewhere.

I've read enough replies under feature announcements and employees posting.
That would have been my fourth or fifth guess.
November 12, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Linux being created for x86 desktops, and that being the only segment it doesn't totally dominate, remains incredibly funny to me.
November 12, 2025 at 7:27 PM
No headphone jack either.
November 12, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Most of the back looks like a fan intake.
Also, ~150w TDP. (30W CPU/110W GPU)
November 12, 2025 at 7:08 PM
I mean, there's like one or two standalone headset that don't run android currently.

A regular distro on one is kinda major though.
November 12, 2025 at 7:03 PM
I look forward to someone writing an API shim thing so apps targetting the quest can run on it.

Pressing the pair button and getting hit with the brown note.
November 12, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Another headset with no headphone jack.
Damn. Here's hoping the usb port works for that.
November 12, 2025 at 6:32 PM
The ones wanting to sell hardware are.
The others are like "ah yes, another xbox. my gamepass KPIs are safe once more".
November 12, 2025 at 6:31 PM
I'm guessing games will need to be ported*, so they don't want to lead with that.
Replaces their tethered headset too.

* until someone makes a quest/androidxr compatibility layer.
