I'm excited to announce that my street-level supers RPG Hit the Streets: Defend the Block, winner of an ENnie & a BAMFsie award, with amazing art from Alex Prinz, is now available on itch!

Today I kicked off a miniseries of the Impulse Drive RPG set in the MCU with a group of PCs who are the Guardians of the Galaxy auxilliary. We have Bug (from the comics!), a human clone, an action figure-sized alien in a human-sized encounter suit, and a vampiric Arthurian knight.

What's my favorite RPG of all time?
The next one I'm going to play. And the next one after that. As long as I expect my next RPG to be my favorite, I have something to strive for.

Most memorable encounter: Can't decide if it's the Burning Wheel Orc game @juddthelibrarian.bsky.social ran for Jim and me where we fought a dragon in her lair, which was intense and awe-inspiring! Or the Shadowrun game where we took one down in a hail of terrified gunfire and crits.

Scariest game I've played? I don't seek out scary games to play. When the game is explicitly scary, I find myself pushing my playstyle into third person or performing for the other players at the table, keeping it superficial.
The Die RPG messed with me quite a bit, though.

Favorite Character Sheet: Something I adore most about playing RPGs online is the Character Keeper - a Google Sheet used to display characters, NPCs, the rules, and even maps. There are some incredibly powerful CKs out there along with simple ones, too. I love them!

Can we ever own enough games?
(my PDF collection isn't so bad, though)

You're right, I missed Starforged! My dead tree shelf is pretty small because I buy books for what I'm desperate to play. The stuff I'm curious about is PDF.

Unplayed RPG I own: Looking at my RPG shelves, I'm proud to say I've played all the games I own in dead tree format but Avatar Legends, In a Wicked Age, and R'lyehwatch.

Complex RPG I play? I'm going with Masks, which might not be complex off the shelf. With my home group, we've cooked up custom conditions inspired by @blg.bsky.social's Pasión de las Pasiones RPG. I print them as cards so folks see them on the table. Adds some complexity for sure. :)

Coolest looking RPG tempted to say the Star Wars WEG d6 2nd ed. book (w/ the Millennium Falcon coming right at you!), but I'm going with the setting/adventure A Pound of Flesh for Mothership. The art is so striking. Also, the information presented is clear, distinct, and evocative.

Best Secondhand RPG Purchase:
I bought ICE's Death Valley Free Prison, sold it because I'd never used it... then saw it at a Half-Price Book Store and bought it AGAIN. At least I did use it for a Play-by-Post. I will run a live Apocalypse World game of it someday. It fascinates me so.

Favorite Licensed RPG: West End Games Star Wars d6. It's an incredible thing - expanded the SW universe in ways we still see today, filled with fascinating art and ideas, and not a bad system for its age.

Will still play in TWENTY years' time?
Dear Lord, I hope so! Otherwise, I'm probably not around. I prefer to imagine myself around, so.... yes!

Favorite Published Adventure: I'm going with Starfall, a Star Wars West End Games d6 module from '89. It had a prison breakout, a Star Destroyer map, AT-ST fights, and zero-G. It's great!

My Favorite Game System is the Apocalypse Engine (aka Powered by the Apocalypse). I love how effectively PbtA games emulate genres, & how it pushes mechanisms into the hands of players while allowing the GM (or MC) to react and introduce new wrinkles or unexpected outcomes.

Funniest Game I've Played.
the MN home group I'm in is incredibly witty. After every night's session, we go around the table handing out stars. The stars are almost always quotes of the one-liners from the game, and it's a string of hilarity to end our night. Such a blast.

Game I WISH I owned?
_checks wishlists on itch and DriveThruRPG_
_checks unfulfilled Kickstarters list_
_checks hard drive filled with RPG PDFs_
I think I'm good for now.

Favorite Con-module / one-shot - Lady Blackbird, without a doubt. Vibrant, chewy, and flexible pregens, scant, but evocative art to show the players, a simple, elegant half-page set of mechanisms, and a compelling hook. It's perfect for me.

Day 13: Most memorable character demise.
It's a bit of a story, so I recorded it here, check it out:

(it's six and a half minutes long)

Favorite Convention purchase. Well, I've never bought a convention, so I can't really say... wait, favorite thing I've bought at a convention? Oh, I see.
Orkworld by John Wick. It was the first game dev I followed online. I bought a print of the game art. Still have it - never played.

Old Game I Still Play?
I don't play old games anymore. Looking at my gaming shelf while pondering the question & I should let some of these books go: old Vampire the Masquerade stuff, L5R's City of Lies... why keep it? I'll never play them again. Too much new stuff out there.

Weirdest RPG I've played... while Jinkies has some brain-breaking moves, I never saw them in play. So I'm going with one of my faves - Lacuna Part 1. Mystery Agents chasing and fighting nightmares in the collective unconscious world of Blue City is so very weird in play. I adore it.

My favorite tie-in fiction has to be a Shadowrun novel by Nigel Findley called 2XS. It was such a neat little mystery/adventure with clever turns of phrase and I've always treasured it.
Second fave? On a Darkling Plain by Richard Lee Byers, a VtM novel.
