As somebody who has written and still has plans to write for UF (both my deadname and name are on stories on the site), I can tell you that, honestly, the Deep Straightness is a relic of the early days, and while it hasn’t appeared on screen both will say they’re pan if asked.

It is an issue, yeah. When I was worldbuilding for my book I had to ask myself some questions about the background and the whole “apparently always evil” groups as to why. (Came up with one and had the dominant power recognize it as reasonable.)

The number of people who got angry that in the 2024 release orcs weren’t horribly evil by nature… man, that was ugly.
I do wonder what they did with gnolls, though. (In the 5e version they were demonic creations.)

If I ever am in a place where I might meet this ill-mannered racist vulgarian, I would make sure I have a pair of rubber gloves on hand so that if we were introduced I could put one on in an ostentatious show and say out loud “I have heard you don’t wash your hands in the lavatory.”
