I don't think the 9 year old me will ever get what he wanted out of modern film adaptations of his favorite video games. The IP has evolved too much and the demographic is modern kids, not 80s/90s kids-all-grown-up, and that's fine. I think part of my brain just doesn't want to see that reality.
