There is a dangerous air quality index alert today & we still have no 24/7 options for people who are unhoused.

On outreach last night, our volunteer teams dropped off water, hot meals, & bagged lunches to people who live outside.

Now, will the City do their part?

We are yet in another heatwave, and the question remains: what is the City doing to support people who are unhoused?

June 22 in the last heat wave,we saw 111 people during 3-hour of outreach. Out of the 111 individuals, only 22 people had access to a shelter bed or a tent.

In addition to hot meals, we also give out bagged lunches that are sometimes the only thing our guests have to eat the next day. Is your faith group, work, or friends willing to help us make 200 sandwiches monthly or at a frequency you're able? If so, please contact us: MealProgramStLukes@gmail.com

It’s National Volunteer Week! We simply couldn’t do this work without our MANY volunteers’ steadfast commitment & unwavering dedication & compassion. Their generosity make a significant difference in many lives as they support the efforts to fight food insecurity. Thank you!

📣 shoutout to our longtime outreach volunteer, Fortunato Durutti Marinetti, who rocked the Cameron House this past weekend & was obviously the sharpest dressed guy in the room. The only thing missing was a squeeze box. The music was uplifting. What a night!

In an unprecedented announcement, the City of Toronto declared a food insecurity crisis. Statistics are grim: 1 in 10 people in Toronto rely on food banks. We see this crisis first-hand in our outreach & meal program. Pls consider supporting us financially to help us continue feeding the community!

Rafi, our coordinator, deputed in regards to the City budget. We need to fund long-term solutions to the housing & food insecurity crisis, NOT spend millions on evicting encampments: a tactic to displace people, cause harm, & invisibilize homelessness. 👇🏼

Extreme cold warning. Our team is prepping for outreach tonight to bring meals to ppl living in tents in this frigid weather. Tonight we open our doors for a few hours to offer warmth.

We are trying to raise $15K this month to continue our work. Please give & tell others!

We need financial partners to help us continue our work in 2025. Our goal: raise $15K this Jan. Can you help?
The polar vortex tonight did not stop us from outreaching, bringing meals to encampments like we do every week & we opened our indoor space to offer respite. Support us!

we need financial partners to try to raise $10K for our program this month. please consider helping!

the numbers are in (and they’re big). in 2024, we served approx 40,000 hot meals (nearly the population of Timmins) through outreach & in drop-in.

Thank you CityNews for highlighting our program! The frigid temperatures have not stopped us from running our program. In 2024, we served nearly 40,000 hot meals and we expect the need to increase this year.

'Out of the cold meal program' sees increasing demand
Demand continues to grow for a volunteer-led program that serves food to Toronto's unhoused and precariously-housed community. As Michelle Mackey reports, advocates are calling on the city to do more.

Rain or shine; extreme cold or heat…our program is here and running week after week. We are so thankful to all our volunteers who help make this happen.

Today, in -15C weather, Lubomir from the Bike Brigade showed up and helped us deliver meals to people in the community. So much gratitude!

In Dec 2020, we started our program as a six-month emergency response to alleviate suffering, prevent death & meet people where they are.

We are now entering our fifth year.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and financial partners; we can’t do this without you!

We are open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and we are so grateful! We can’t operate without our volunteers & financial partners - so thank you! Would you consider being a financial partner in the new year?

Thank you, thank you!

This week Ford said he was going to invest in “homelessness prevention programs”, but made no mention of social assistance rates and minimum wages. People have to choose between rent or eating and food insecurity is at an all time high.

Would you consider partnering with us?
Many people who access our meal program are on a fixed income or work min wage jobs. They have to choose between paying rent or eating. As the need grows, we are committed to continue to providing meals on outreach & indoors! Would you consider financially partnering with us so we can keep going? 🙏🏼

Did you know that across the entire city’s Toronto Drop-in Network of fifty drop-ins, only FOUR places are open on Sunday nights for dinner?

Saint Luke’s OOTC meal program is not part of the Network, and is one of the rare places open on Sunday nights!
