2.)You need to make sure if you find a 'Free to Use'(F2U) base to still check the rules/boundaries of the piece if the artist has any. Just because it has F2U doesn't mean that you shouldn't credit them.

1.) tracing someone's art and putting your OC/Mascot over it without credit is straight up theft. If you are using it to advertise yourself or use it for content views that is considered theft.
You didn't fully create that piece by yourself. The artist you helped you also deserves credit and views.
