So maybe Pelosi is an outlier or maybe with more searching we would find more examples. It’s hard to know without Elie specifying who they are referring to. I don’t know what I’m supposedly desperate about. That seems like an oddly hostile thing to say.

I don’t know that. This is the first post from Elie I’ve ever seen. I don’t have enough information. I just did a basic search of the first few people on the house democrats site. From that, at least from their twitters, none of the first three mentioned Cheney.

I would be very surprised if even half the people in the global north know that communists aim to abolish the class system. The ruling class’s ideological monopoly over education has enabled one of the most effective examples of propaganda by omission in history.

Without looking too deeply, I’d guess most didn’t mention either at the time of the original post. And it didn’t take hours. it was maybe 30 seconds. I’m not sure why you’d think I saw your comment right when you posted it and went on some mad hunt for hours, lol.

If someone really cared, they could write a script using Nitter (if it’s still around) to search mentions of Cheney and Mamdani and settle it. The Democrats are a big-tent party, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if some might have more motivation to mention Cheney over Mamdani.

I’m not American and don’t know all the different elected officials. I just looked up one I recognized who i thought might have mentioned Cheney based on my perception of her. There’s probably a dataset on GitHub with the Twitter handles of current officials.

This of course means the Anarchists can’t abandon the Communists if the revolution is under siege, leading to tough decisions that must be made to protect the revolution. And the Communists can’t be removing anarchists from the councils, and organs of worker power, as one of those tough decisions.

Unfortunately they didn’t see it that way… but I see very few (and where there are they are very fixable) reasons why we shouldn’t.

The only way to be a communist/anarchist in my view. It’s always seemed to me that Kropotkin and Marx together give a really good starting point for how social consciousness forms and how we can start to mindfully shape our world towards liberation.

And yet they were, and remain, extreamly impactful because: 1) it can be difficult to grasp dialectics and 2) People often fail to read Marx as a whole work of interdependent parts. This is especially important for Marx because much of his work was unfinished and in motion.

The most frustrating one is people thinking historical materialism is a deterministic theory. Marx and Engels explicitly avoided deterministic theories; referring to them as vulgar materialism. Poppers critiques(hard to mistake from willful misunderstanding) are among the most ridiculous.
