Seven: European way of life, based on equality, climate protection and freedom. Regional, national and European identity must be thought together. Europe was always explained functionally in the past but now time for European patriotism

Sixth: more parliamentary democracy. Stronger EP; more transparent Council, COM President also as European Council President. EPP partners are centre parties, no cooperation with extremists

Fifth: think big; not just technical solutions but historical decisions. 3 components: 1) enlargement, 2) regulation of social media platforms, 3) strengthening of European pillar in defense. Defense must become as impossible to reverse as Euro

Fourth: competitiveness. One year after EP elections, we need progress on simplification, strengthening internal market and finding new partners in world. EU as centre of rules-based order.

Third: EU as legal community. No solidarity and EU funds without respect for rule of law; rules must be applied the same to all - including France and Germany

Second: no national egoism. Pan-European interests must be at forefront of decisions. Responsibility also on media to report on European dimensions of decisions

First: grant the EU its successes. No more Brussels bashing from national capitals

Yes. I also noticed that Metsola recently has taken on the EPP party line more often when celebrating certain votes in the Parliament. Strikes me as not only problematic for the Parliament, but also not helpful for her aim to be reelected as EP President.
